After almost a 2 year absence from this series, I took part in the first round of the SITCC, held on ETS carpet for the first time.
Having no time to prepare for the race a head of time I came on Saturday morning with my asphalt setup. Car had way too much steering, however was able to handle its defaults and was able to post the 3rd fastest three consecutive laps in the reseeding run. Tweaking my car for each qualifier, I was fighting for the TQ but just lost out by 4 tenths of a second.
Therefore I started second on the grid. In the first final I tried to put pressure on pole man Kevin Zwahlen, but he didnâ™t flinch until the 10th lap were he made a mistake and I piled in to him from behind. As a result of the shock of the impact my motor moved forward and I stripped the spur gear forcing me to abandon my race. In the second final, I put pressure again and capitalized when Kevin made a mistake and went through and never looked back, despite pressure from both Paul Franceschi and Briac Berthoud. In the third final, I was able to hold on to second spot until around half way mark when I suddenly lost some traction. Due to further mistakes I only was able to hold on to 4th place.
Overall I was content with my car and my driving, regardless of the result. I was able to secure that second spot on the podium and as a consolation was able to claim the fastest lap of the day in final no. 2!
